1997 EventsEdit

A repository of events that occurred in 1997.

Events
  • After an attack on Abydos which sees Dr. Daniel Jackson's wife, Sha're and Daniel's brother-in-law, Skaara get kidnapped while various Abydonians and members of the SGC are either killed or left badly injured, Daniel returns albeit reluctantly to Earth with Jack and his team while vowing not to return to Abydos until he had rescued the two kidnapped siblings. In the meantime, following Weterings's death, Sha're becomes the host to Amaunet and Skaara host to Klorel. (SG1: "Children of the Gods")
  • Following Kawalsky's death and on Colonel Jack O'Neill's recommendation, Teal'c becomes the fourth and final member of SG-1, resulting in SG-1 officially becoming a four-man team. (SG1: "The Enemy Within")
  • On the planet Simarka (P3X-593), SG-1 make first contact with the Shavadai, a race of Mongol-like warriors who operated by a strict code, which included a lowly status for women with Sam's efforts soon helping the women on that world gain the right to be treated as human beings instead of objects. (SG1: "Emancipation")
  • SG-1 accompanies SG-3 to the planet designated P3X-797, and discover a world divided between a dark and light side, with a population similarly split between the Touched and the Untouched. The Untouched, live on the bright side, a Minoan like civilization. The Touched, who live on the dark side, are primitives with the instincts of animals. On returning to Earth, the SG-3 marines and all but two members of the SG-1 team (Dr. Daniel Jackson and Teal'c) begin to exhibit the brutality of the Touched, which rapidly spreads throughout Stargate Command. Major General George S. Hammond places the SGC into quarantine before he himself becomes infected. Dr. Janet Fraiser, the Chief Medical Office using a blood sample of one of the Untouched successfully creates an antidote for the virus which results in the SGC being brought out of lockdown. A few hours later, SG-1 return to P3X-797 and use the antidote to return all the Touched including Daniel Jackson to normal. (SG1: "The Broca Divide")
  • On an exploratory mission to planet designated P3X-562, SG-1 make first contact with Unity, a blue crystalline species with one of the crystals copying and impersonating Jack O'Neill. (SG1: "Cold Lazarus")
  • SG-1 travel to the planet Gaia and make first contact with the Nox, an advanced humanoid race, with amazing healing powers and the capability to make things invisible. (SG1: "The Nox")
  • SG-1 explore the planet Argos and make first contact with the Argosians, an ancient Minoan based civilization, whose age was accelerated by nanotechnology, until SG-1 destroy the technology and allow the Argosians to live years instead of 100 days. (SG1: "Brief Candle")
  • SG-1 travel to the planet Oannes (P3X-866), and discover the homeworld of Nem, the sole survivor of an ancient aquatic race known as the Ohnes. Nem captured Dr. Daniel Jackson, and learnt that Belus had killed his mate Omoroca while attempting to free humans of Earth from the Goa'uld. Upon realizing that they have been tricked into thinking that Daniel is dead, Jack, Sam and Teal'c return to P3X-866 and are reunited with Daniel.(SG1: "Fire and Water")
  • A team of archaeologists in Mexico uncover an ancient tomb with a Sarcophagus inside which contained the Goa'uld called Hathor. Their discovery awakens Hathor from her long sleep and after killing the archaeologists, she makes her way to the SGC where she uses Nish'ta to seduce the men at Stargate Command including General George Hammond, Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson with the intention of using the base to breed Goa'uld while Hathor plans to make Jack O'Neill her First Prime. Hathor's efforts are ultimately prevented by a group of female soldiers and Marines with Dr. Janet Fraiser and Captain Samantha Carter leading the attack and Teal'c assisting them. (SG1: "Hathor")
