BiographyEdit

Background informationEdit

He worked at Cornell University with Dr. Nicholas Rush before the two were recruited to the Stargate Program. (SGU: "Alliances")

2010Edit

He and Senator Michaels used the communications stones to switch places with Camile Wray and MSgt. Ronald Greer on Destiny. Their job was to evaluate the viability of Destiny's mission. Covel concluded that Dr. Nicholas Rush had made a potentially important discovery but that it would be nearly impossible to understand it with the resources available on Destiny. He also concluded that the crew was not likely to survive long on Destiny and that their actions had damaged the ship.

While on Destiny, Covel and Michaels' bodies were exposed to lethal doses of radiation due to the Lucian Alliance attack on Homeworld Command. When Destiny jumped out of FTL, Covel and Michaels briefly re-inhabited their bodies and Covel observed lethal levels of radiation on a Geiger counter. Fearing for his life, Covel took advantage of a glitch in the Long-range communication device's operation to sabotage its operation to ensure that it could not be turned off. When Rush discovered what had happened, Covel attempted to argue that he and Michaels didn't deserve to die because of Greer and Wray's actions, but Rush argued that they would die when their bodies did, citing Amanda Perry and Ginn as an example (Covel's protests that this may have merely been the result of Perry's weakened physical condition was weak at best). With the truth of the sabotage discovered, Rush reversed the damage, switching the stones off. Michaels and Covel then disarmed the Lucian Alliance naquadria bomb which was at Homeworld Command, presumably dying of radiation poisoning soon afterward. (SGU: "Alliances")
