The Black Cauldron is a special Sarcophagus modified by Arawn, under the auspices of System Lord Manannan mac Lir, that is used to create the undead Jaffa, the Cauldron-Born. The modifications to the Sarcophagus is such that, instead of healing the body and raising the dead, the Black Cauldron animates it as a Cauldron-Born, an undead humanoid that does not feel fear or pain.
