Although Erony had been raised to support her father's ruthless views, she had secretly questioned the purpose of the Halcyonites' constant conflicts with each other. After meeting the Atlantis expedition and learning about their own efforts against the Wraith, Erony was given the task of accompanying Doctor Carson Beckett when he asked to look around the town. Witnessing Beckett's compassion further reinforced Erony's discomfort with her father's policies, particularly when she told Beckett about her mother's death during a past campaign; where other Halcyonites had expressed regret for the loss of a fine warrior, Beckett's simply sympathy for the loss of Erony's mother felt far more genuine to her. With the expedition offering more opportunities to help the Halcyonites develop, Erony rejected her father's conflicts after his death and vowed to her people that they should remember that their true enemy was the Wraith rather than each other.
