Jomasecu

Teal'c and K'Tano performing the rite of Joma secu.

Joma secu is a Jaffa word meaning "rite of leadership". A Jaffa warrior can challenge a leader in joma secu which results to a fight to the death. In the fight both warriors are given either staff weapons or training weapons and fight until one emerges the victor. Joma secu was used within Rebel Jaffa groups. (SG1: "The Warrior", "Birthright")

Instances of joma secu[]

  • Teal'c challenged K'tano for leadership of the Rebel Jaffa Movement after he learned that K'tano had betrayed the Jaffa to the Goa'uld System Lords. He won the challenge and ended up killing K'tano after learning he was in fact the Goa'uld Imhotep. (SG1: "The Warrior")
  • Neith challenged Ishta for leadership of the Hak'tyl, out of concern that Ishta's alliance with the Tau'ri would lead them to ruin. Neith was defeated, but Ishta spared her upon learning that Mala had died from complications with Tretonin. (SG1: "Birthright")
