Fishing

Fishing was the activity of catching fish, normally in the wild. (Although General O'neill considers the act of fishing to be just that, without the catching part. It is unknown if he was at a pond that actually possessed fish if he would retain this opinion. )Techniques for catching fish include hand gathering, spearing, netting, angling and trapping. Several races throughout the universe fish, including the Tau'ri, Cimmerians, and Edorans. (SG1: "Thor's Hammer", "A Hundred Days")
History
Edit
In 2000 when SG-1 received leave time, Colonel Jack O'Neill (an avid fisher) invited Major Samantha Carter to go on a fishing trip in Minnesota with him, unsuccessfully. Later, when the trip was delayed, Jack invited Thor, who also declined. (SG1: "Nemesis", "Small Victories") Later in 2000, Dr. Daniel Jackson called Teal'c, who was fishing in Minnesota with O'Neill, for a translation of the line "banished to oblivion" in Goa'uld. (SG1: "The Curse")
In 2005 after the downfall of both the Goa'uld and Replicators, SG-1 went fishing at Jack's cabin. (SG1: "Threads") However, Jack's pond actually lacked fish until an alternate SG-1 altered the timeline. It could be possible, however, that fish have always inhabited his pond without him knowing of it. (SG1: "Moebius, Part 2")
In 2007, Dr. Carson Beckett was planning to go fishing with Dr. Rodney McKay on Lantea's mainland. However, the trip was canceled after a medical situation emerged. (ATL: "Sunday") Later in 2008, McKay toyed with the idea of programing the ability to dream into Atlantis' Stasis pod. He tempted Dr. Carson Beckett with the idea by saying that he could dream of going fishing in the Scottish Highlands with blond massage therapists. (ATL: "The Kindred, Part 2")
