France is country in Western Europe, south of United Kingdom, and the oldest historic ally of the United States. The French government was informed of the Stargate's existence in 2003, along with the British and Chinese, and has had a limited participation in the program ever since. France is part of the Gate Alliance Treaty and sent personnel to Atlantis. (ATL: "Rising") One of the IOA members; Jean LaPierre is from France. (SG1: "The Scourge")
