Francis Maynard is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. When Henry Hayes was inaugurated as President of the United States, General Maynard informed him of the existence of Stargate Command. As Vice-President Robert Kinsey used the briefing as an attempt to remove George Hammond and SG-1, Maynard supported them, and told Hayes that Kinsey had been less than forthright about his involvement with the program. When Richard Woolsey told him about his concerns that Kinsey may have connections to the Trust, Maynard advised him to find out if it was true. General Maynard stayed on as one of Hayes advisors during the subsequent threat posed by Anubis. (SG1: "Inauguration", "Lost City, Part 2")
