He walked in on Commander Acastus Kolya while he was training a strike force to invade Atlantis to steal some of the expedition's supplies while the city would be largely evacuated due to an upcoming severe storm on Lantea. Although Kolya was asked not to be disturbed during the training exercise, the nervous private followed Cowen's orders to bring Kolya to him, as he wished to speak with him "immediately". (SGA: "The Storm")
