Inertial dampeners are devices used on spacecraft to counteract the affects of sudden movements on ships including acceleration, deceleration, sudden turns, and probably to lessen the shudder from taking weapon hits. Inertial dampeners are equipped on most spaceships from various races.

Inertial dampeners by race

Ancient

All Ancient ships are equipped with inertial dampeners including both Puddle Jumpers and Aurora class warships to protect people on board from facing lethal G-forces. They can apparently be adjusted and they also use up a considerable amount of power. (SGA: "Suspicion", "The Eye", "Critical Mass", "Grace Under Pressure", "Travelers")

Goa'uld

All Goa'uld vessels are equipped with inertial dampeners but are somewhat limited in effectiveness, at least to Humans. Such ships include Apophis' and Klorel's Ha'tak. (SG1: "Within the Serpent's Grasp")

Tau'ri

All F-302s are equipped with inertial dampeners, but are still 90% effective, meaning pilots can still experience the affects of sudden movements. All Tau'ri battleships are equipped with inertial dampeners as well. (SG1: "Fragile Balance") (SGA: "The Intruder")
