The Iratus Bug is an invertebrate native to the Pegasus galaxy. They have nests guarded by hundreds of other Iratus bugs, usually in dark, dank caves. They feed on other lifeforms, though what exactly they feed off of is unknown. When the Ancients arrived at Pegasus in Atlantis, one of the worlds they seeded with Humans was the Iratus bug's homeworld. They began to feed upon the humans, resulting in a mutation. This feeding process resulted in the mixture of the bug's and human's DNA, resulting in the creation of a humanoid race - the Wraith.
