Ishta is a Jaffa priestess, who used to serve the Goa'uld Moloc.

When Moloc ordered the Ceremony of Fire (all girls born on his worlds were to be burned alive), Ishta formed the Hak'tyl Resistance, to save as many as possible. As the priestess reponsible for killing the girls, she was able to smuggle them to safety on Hak'tyl, becoming their leader in rebellion.
Three female warriors under her leadership were able to save Ryk'l's symbiote when he was killed trying to resist Molac during the Jaffa Rebellion. They were later able to use said symbiote to save one of the girls rescued from Moloc's order that every Jaffa girl under his rule should be sacrificed and burned. Ishta's clan became free when Moloc was killed by the SGC (using a cruise missile) She became involved romantically with Teal'c. (SG1: "Birthright", "Sacrifices")
