As sherrif in the small town Steveston in Oregon, USA, he was the one Samantha Carter turned to when investigating the disappearence of doctor Fleming. What she didn't know was that he, amongst the other citizens of that town, was hosts to cloned Goa'uld. The Goa'uld was eventually neutralized and Knox did not retain any memories from the nights when the symbiote were active. (SG1: "Nightwalkers")
