Lya is a Nox who befriended SG-1. While caring for Shak'l, he killed her, but the other Nox were able to revive her. Later, Daniel Jackson asked her to come help the Tollans to relocate off of Earth. When the Tollans held a Triad to determine who had predominance, Skaara or Klorel, she was selected to be the neutral Archon, and eventually voted in favor of Skaara. Teal'c suspected that the Goa'uld would try to cheat, so he asked Lya to conceal one of the Tollans ion cannons. She agreed only to cloak the weapon, not to fire it, which in her mind made all the difference. Lya is mother of Nafrayu and wife to Anteaus.
