M4C-862 was a moon in the Milky Way galaxy, approximately 42,000 light years away from Earth, which was home to small energy beings, and held a Stargate. The moon is primarily deciduous with several large spots of rock, perfect for colonization. The SGC maintained a base on this moon for some time until the mysterious fireflies drove the team away from the planet, leaving several intact facilities and equipment.
The moon has an unusual magnetic polarity which might be responsible for the hostility of the light creatures. Either this or they retaliated against the capture of one of their own. And according Dr.Thompson theory that 862 was not created by gas giants gas disc. (SG1: "Prodigy")

Stargate SG-1: The DVD Collection issue 28 identifies one of the glyphs for this planet as the point of origin for Earth. However, this could not be possible due to the fact that the point of origin only appears on that gate.
