Notes[]

  • The United States Air Force does not have a First Sergeant rank. It is instead a duty denoted by a diamond within the upper field. They usually act in the capacity of as a pulse of the morale and welfare of the unit to the Commander. The Chief Master Sergeant of the unit is the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the unit commander.
  • Only one individual was awarded the rank of General of the Air Force, semi-retroactively. General of the Army "Hap" Arnold was awarded the rank in 1949, two years after the establishment of the United States Air Force as a separate body from the United States Army. General Arnold was considered inactive at this time [although not retired, as five-star generals do not officially retire from service], so this rank has never been awarded to an officer of the modern USAF while on active duty.

Although it carries with it the title of "Marine Gunner" (the usually form of address being "Gunner") this is merely a title and not a rank. However, Marine Gunners wear a special "bursting bomb" insignia (depicted above) in place of their actual rank insignia unless a coat is worn, in which case a larger "Bursting Bomb" insignia is worn ¾" above the rank insignia on both shoulder epaulets.

Notes[]

  • The System Lords rank system had been in place for over 5000 years, but was mainly ceremonial. In the past, only key Jaffa would gain rank, ascending quickly to Tec'ma-te, and earn a "Prime" ranking in the service of their master.[1]
  • The new System Lords empowered their militaries and not only had the Jaffa but also Goa'uld operatives, both Ashrak and general soldiers, fighting within its structure. Their army had Jaffa who outranked Goa'uld in their command.[1]
