"We may not have sub-light engines but we do have maneuvering thrusters. You know, one long continuous burn along the right trajectory from now until the next jump should be enough to allow us to establish a higher, more stable orbit..."
Rodney McKay

Maneuvering thrusters are one of three methods of propulsion on Daedalus-class and Prometheus-class ships—the other being the hyperdrive and sublight drive. While manoeuvering thrusters are by far the slowest form of propulsion, they are able to make slight adjustments to a ship's trajectory and to help gain momentum. Reverse thrust is also possible, which is in place to help a ship slow down in the low gravity of space. (SG1: "Flesh and Blood") (ATL: "The Daedalus Variations")

Ancient shuttles also posses maneuvering thrusters. (SGU: "Light")
