In reality, this office at the time was held by Vladimir Putin. Interestingly, the Russian name Mikhail is associated with bears, which are often named Mikhail or its diminutive Misha in fairy tales. The episode aired three years before the election of Dmitry Medvedev, the third President of Russia, whose last name literally means "of a bear" (from the Russian word medved').
