Mooney is a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. In 2009, she and Colonel David Telford sat with the Long-Range Communication Device, awaiting transfer with Lt. Matthew Scott and Camile Wray. She changed places with Wray, temporarily taking control of Wray's body on board the Destiny.
