The Organic Asurans were a type of Asuran that were organically based.
Overview
This form of Replicator was vastly different from the ones present in the Pegasus galaxy as they were not machine based nanites but rather organically constructed living beings. The process takes a great deal of energy and involves the nanites being used to construct flesh and bone by the atom which also takes quite sometime to complete. A number of nanites are left in the bloodstream of the newly organic body and can be used to heal injuries and wounds.
They lacked many of the advantages of their machine kin in that they could not walk through cracks, possessed no enhanced strength, and had a finite life span and thus aged with time, although the nanites may have been able to slow this down considerably. History
The first of the organic Asurans were made by a branch Niam's faction who wished to learn the means to Ascension. To accomplish this, they created a replica of the City-ship Atlantis and made organic Asuran copies of Doctor Elizabeth Weir and the First Atlantis Reconnaissance Team making them believe they were in Atlantis in order to study them. Ultimately, the team managed to flee the city as it was being destroyed by the more numerous Asurans under Oberoth. These organic Asurans were killed by the Asuran forces that were hunting them. After the failure of digital ascension, Elizabeth Weir led the remnants of the Asuran race which consisted of Niam's faction. They wished to return to a corporeal form and inhabited Atlantis where they recreated their nanite based bodies. However, the threat they posed to the Atlantis expedition meant a compromise was made in that these Asurans needed to make organic bodies for themselves. They began the process but one of their number, Koracen, attempted to flee as he did not wish to become a flesh and blood creature. Instead, he wished to remain as an unaging machine which led to Weir destroying him to save John Sheppard. This endeavour was abandoned by Elizabeth Weir's faction and she betrayed them by leading their nanite bodies into the vacuum of space. (SGA: "Ghost in the Machine")
