Othala (galaxy)

Othala is a galaxy named in honour of their original home planet by the Asgard and served as the galaxy in which they resided for their final years.

The Othala galaxy was chosen by the Asgard as the new location of their home after they were forced to abandoned their original home galaxy due to the increasing threat of the Replicator. They settled and rebuilt their civilisation on the planet Orilla, however their colony planet Hala was infected by the Replicators and they were force to evacuate the planet and installed the Time dilation device to trap the Replicators in order to give the Asgard more time to find a way to destroy them. Two years later the Asgard decided to destroy Hala by collapsing the Sun of the system into a black hole.
In 2007, the Asgard decided to commit mass suicide after failing to solve their genetic problem and only leaving their techology to the Tau'ri as a legacy.
