Colonel Paul Emerson was the commander of the Earth ship Odyssey. He was in command of the vessel after Colonel Lionel Pendergast was killed in action with the recent destruction of the Prometheus over Tegalus.
His first mission on the Odyssey was to rescue SG-1 from P6G-452, which he pointed out to be a great first mission. He was later taken part of the Battle of P3Y-229. He was fortunate to survive the massive Ori invasion, as his ship was only one of two out of a dozen ships to survive the battle. (SG1: "Off the Grid", "Camelot", "Flesh and Blood")
When the Lucian Alliance attacked the ship and boarded, Anateo, the leader summoned Samantha Carter and Emerson to the bridge so that Carter can repair the ship for their needs. Emerson ordered her not to help them, but was shot four times by Solek, killing him. (SG1: "Company of Thieves")
