Professor Paul Langford[2] was an archaeologist and the father of Catherine Langford.

He lead a team to dig for artifacts near the Great Pyramids in Giza, Egypt in 1928. He arrived at the site and was greeted by his Arabic Interpreter who lead him to Foreman Ed Taylor at the newly discovered coverstone. Taylor led Langford and the Interpreter to a group of workers who were raising the newly uncovered Stargate. (Stargate)

In 1945, Langford worked with the United States Air Force to make the Stargate work. He was assisted by Ernest Littlefield, who was engaged to his daughter. When Littlefield went through the Stargate and disappeared, Langford told Catherine that Littlefield was killed in a lab accident. Research on the Stargate was shut down. (SG1: "The Torment of Tantalus")

He was apparently long dead by 1969 when Catherine was visited by SG-1. (SG1: "1969")

Alternate timelineEdit

In an alternate timeline accidentally created by SG-1, Langford did not explore Giza until 1934. As Ra had taken the Stargate with him when he left Earth in 2995 B.C., Langford did not discover anything of significance at the site. (SG1: "Moebius, Part 1")

Note: This is the only source that identifies professor Langford's first name as "Paul"; Stargate and Stargate SG-1 identify him simply as 'Professor Langford'. While this source (the Stargate SG-1 Roleplaying Game) was officially licensed by MGM at the time of its release, MGM has since pulled publisher AEG's license, which brings into question the current status of this source in Stargate's canon.
