A planet is a celestial object that orbits a star. Many planets have their own names, but Stargate Command usually assign designations, which are based on binary codes for the use of extrapolation. The planets are usually designated with P??-??? on Milky Way planets, and M??-??? for Pegasus planets. (SG1: "The Broca Divide")
