Professor Paul Langford was the archaeologist who discovered the Stargate in Giza in 1928 and the father of Catherine Langford. (Stargate)
During the 1940s, Langford worked with the United States Air Force to make the Stargate work. He was assisted by Ernest Littlefield, who was engaged to his daughter. When Littlefield went through the Stargate and disappeared, Langford told Catherine that Littlefield was killed in a lab accident. Research on the Stargate was shut down. He was apparently long dead by 1969. (SG1: "1969")
