Robert C. Cooper (born October 14, 1968 in Toronto, Canada) is one of the directors and head writers of Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe (the last two in which he is also the co-creater along with Brad Wright. He is also one of the Executive Producers and show runner of SG-1 in its seventh season. Cooper was responsible for several major backstories in the Stargate universe, including the creation of the Ancients, and the Alliance of Four Great Races.

He also made a cameo appearance as a writer for Wormhole X-Treme! in the episode of the same name. In "Flesh and Blood", he had his daughter Emma Cooper play the four year-old version of the Orici Adria, and in "Talion", he had his older daughter Megan Elizabeth Cooper play a young Jaffa female.
