"We'll leave that for SG-4, they love that kind of stuff."
Jack O'Neill[src]

SG-4 was one of the original nine SG teams created by presidential order after Colonel Jack O'Neill's second expedition through the Stargate to Abydos. (SG1: "Children of the Gods")

History[]

US Air Force[]

SG-4 was scheduled to travel to P8X-362 after read-outs of a scan indicated the minerals there were of good quality. Major General George S. Hammond gave the order for them to move out at eleven-hundred hours, however after an unscheduled return of SG-1 minus Dr. Daniel Jackson (due to Daniel's apparent death), it is unknown if the mission proceeded. (SG1: "Fire and Water")

The team was organized of four soldiers, and the team was on standby to be dispatched to escort Cassandra back to Hanka. (SG1: "Singularity")

Russian Armed Forces[]

After reaching an agreement to share the Stargate Program with the Russian Government, the team becomes a Russian contingent in Stargate Command. The team was seen coming back from planet P3X-367 with a survivor of that planet's population, reporting that Nirrti was operating there. The Russian version of SG-4 is unusual in its use of Russian or Former Warsaw Pact equipment. Lt. Colonel Sergei Evanov's 4 man team were equipped with 5.56mm AK variants (at least one with an under-barrel grenade launcher), a PKM general purpose machine gun, and an SVD sniper's rifle. The two AK-variants appear to be Zastava M90-series rifles related to the Zastava M85 carried by Colonel Alexi Zukhov on the first Russian-SGC mission. Like the first Russian team, SG-4 wears Russian uniforms, but unlike the first team, SG-4 wears standard SGC shoulder patches with the exception of a Russian tricolor beret flash. (SG1: "Metamorphosis")

The team was also responsible for relocating the survivors from the ship found on P2A-347 to another planet, as ordered by Colonel Jack O'Neill. (SG1: "Lifeboat")

Later composition[]

Lt. Colonel John Sheppard briefly led SG-4 when he was reassigned to Earth when the Ancients retook Atlantis. He was unhappy with the assignment, claiming that he never thought he would miss having Dr. Rodney McKay on his team. Members of the team at that point included Major Christopher Wallace and Babbis. (SGA: "The Return, Part 1")

Langara[]

SG-4, along with SG-5, was sent as back-up in the failed attempt to dial the nine chevron address on Langara's Stargate to send reinforcements to Destiny. (SGU: "Seizure")

Behind the scenes[]

In "Seizure", Richard Woolsey mistakenly refers to the two teams as "SG-1 teams 4 and 5".
