Self destruct mechanism

Self destruct mechanisms are used to destroy the ship that has just initiazed it.

In the episode Aurora, the Aurora was shown to self-destruct, and within its self destruction field, destroys two Wraith Cruiser with it. Self destruct mechanisms are basically used to destroy the evidence of existence of the ship or person that has activated it. Self-destruct fields are shown to be dangerous, as shown inside the episode Aurora. (ATL: "Aurora")

Many races use self destruct mechanisms as it is installed on many ships, but Tau'ri ships have not yet shown this ability, but did ram themselves into another ship to destroy themselves. Probably the Tau'ri ship have since did install it later on. The roque NID planned an explosion by generating power with the hyperdrive without using it to create a hyperspace window. This would be an effective self destruct (SG1: "Prometheus"). Other Examples of the installed technology are on Tel'tak scout ships, but they haven't been shown to use this technology. Wraith Darts have shown this ability (ATL: "The Brotherhood") and also Wraith Cruisers (ATL: "Submersion"), but have also shown the ability to ram ship by making kamikaze runs (ATL: "The Siege, Part 3"). Other races such as the Goa'uld have installed such technology, while some races that have this installed typically ram the ship into another. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 2")

• In Lost City, Part 2, the Prometheus prepares to ram itself into Anubis' mothership, but is stopped by the releasing of many Drone weapons.
