Sky1 (previously known as Sky One) is a British satellite channel launched in 1982, one of several channels from the BSkyB (British Sky Broadcasting) brand in the United Kingdom and Ireland. There is also a duplicate channel called Sky1 HD, which shows programming at the same time as Sky1, but shown in High Definition (if the series in question is also in HD). Many of the current shows aired in Sky1 include 24, Bones, Eureka (known in the UK as A Town Called Eureka), Fringe, House, Lie to Me, Lost and Ross Kemp in Afghanistan, with past shows including Battlestar Galactica, Prison Break, The X-Files.

Stargate seriesEdit

Sky1 was always the British home to the Stargate franchise; Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, and as from 6 October, 2009, Stargate Universe. Often during SG-1's tenure, Sky1 is often the first broadcaster in the world to air the second half of all season apart from the first and ninth seasons.
