Stargate: Continuum will be the second Stargate film to be released on DVD following the end of Stargate SG-1. It will be written and directed by Brad Wright and will star Richard Dean Anderson, Ben Browder, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge and Claudia Black. Shooting began on April 15 2007. The first trailer was released on April 21, 2008.

[edit] The Plot
While SG-1 attends the execution of Ba'al, the last of the Goa'uld System Lords, Teal'c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what's happened, a fleet of Goa'uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Ba'al, his queen, Qetesh (Vala), and his first prime, Teal'c. The remaining SG-1 members must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the Goa'uld. The team manage to gain access to the Stargate and visit Ba'al's time machine base. Whilst defending themselves from Qe'tesh's Jaffa who are using the rings to invade the base, All of SG-1 save for Mitchell are killed. Mitchell uses the device to create a time jump in the Stargate by predicting a solar flare and encounters Ba'al at he moment he changes events. Ba'al is killed and time is set right.
Writer Brad Wright has stated that this movie will be a stand alone and it's hoped it will launch a continued series of movies based on the SG-1 TV series. Wright also stated fans can expect many guest stars including characters that have been "killed off" (and ones that have gone "off the radar", not dead) during the TV run.

[edit] Behind the Scenes
- Due to a scheduling conflict, actor Michael Shanks was unavailable to shoot the scenes in the arctic. However he was on the boat with Mitchell and Carter in the preceding scenes. In order to make his disappearance plausible, writer Brad Wright decided that he will develop frostbite after stepping in water and be unable to continue with the others. His leg will get cut off. However, since the movie takes place in an alternate timeline it is unclear whether this is a permanent disability. [1]
