The Phoenix Campaign refers to a series of battles that occurred in 2008 throughout the Pegasus galaxy in an alternate timeline. This campaign was part of an effort set forth by the Atlantis expedition to push back against the forces of Michael Kenmore and his assault against the human populations of Pegasus galaxy planets.

In 2008 in the present timeline, Lt. Colonel John Sheppard stepped through the Stargate on M4S-587 with the intent of returning to Atlantis. However, the Stargate's wormhole was intersected by a solar flare, which transported him 48,000 years into the future. In his absence from the present, a timeline emerged in which Teyla Emmagan (having been captured by Michael Kenmore prior to this event) had her baby. As a result, Michael was able to complete his research into perfecting his Human-Wraith Hybrids. Furthermore, he was able to speed up the distribution of the Hoffan drug to Human planets throughout the galaxy. Thus, the Pegasus galaxy was in chaos - humans and Wraith alike were under attack by Michael and his growing army of hybrids. As a result of persistent lobbying, the IOA finally yielded in their position, deciding to assign Earth's newest BC-304 – the Phoenix - to the Atlantis expedition for use in repelling Michael's crusade. As the ship itself was still incomplete upon arriving at M35-117, Samantha Carter and Dr. Rodney Mckay (along with other members of the expedition) spent the better part of a month getting it ready for combat. About Stargate

Stargate is a military science fiction franchise, initially conceived by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin. The film that began the franchise was simply titled Stargate. Theatrically released on October 28, 1994 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Carolco, it became a worldwide hit, grossing nearly $200 million (USD) worldwide. Three years later, Canadian Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner created a television series entitled Stargate SG-1 as a sequel for the film. Stargate SG-1 briefly held the record for the longest-running North American science fiction show in history with a total of ten seasons and 214 episodes. This series would set the scene for Stargate's ongoing legacy.

Stargate - The Ark of Truth
In 2004, Stargate SG-1's first spin-off series, entitled Stargate: Atlantis, was released. Stargate: Atlantis concluded January 9, 2009 after five seasons and 100 episodes. A second Stargate spin-off series, entitled Stargate Universe, began airing on October 2, 2009 and concluded after 2 seasons. As of May 9, 2011, with the series finale of Stargate Universe, no new episodes of the Stargate franchise are planned for production, leaving the franchise with a total of 354 canon episodes. However, On May 29, 2014, Warner Brothers and MGM announced plans to reboot the Stargate franchise in the form in a new feature film trilogy. (Read more...)
