A Stargate destroyer is a device used by the Ancients to destroy a Stargate from another planet.

Overview

The shield preventing Teal'c and Master Bra'tac from entering the weapon.

The weapon worked by sending a stream of energy through an outgoing wormhole, causing it to be stored in the recieving gates capacitors. When the energy built up to a cirtain point, the gate exploded with a force of two to three thousand megatons, enough to wipe out all life on a planet the size of Earth.

The destroyer weapon was a large structure located on a planet which contained a ring of smaller obelisks with a central structure firing the energy beam into the Stargate. In between the the obelisks is a forcefield preventing entry through the open areas, however, there was an unshielded doorway allowing individuals to pass through unimpeded.

The doorway through which Anubis's Jaffa entered and exited the Stargate Destroyer.

Anubis managed to locate one such device, and used it in an attempt to destroy the Tau'ri. Earth was powerless in stopping the weapon as the short wormhole window did not apply as massive quantities of energy was being channeled into the gate to keep it opened and attempts to redirect the weapon back at its source with an EMP generator failed as well.

Anubis's plan succeeded in destroying the Stargate but this only worked on the Beta Gate which exploded in orbit of Earth after Jack O'Neill was able to fly it away from Earth in the X-302. Worse for Anubis, Rya'c, piloting a stolen death glider, was able to destroy the device. (SG1: "Redemption")
