Original Unknown, Naquadah generator (optional)
Stromos is an automated sleeper ship, with four long, cylindrical chamber at its rear, around a thicker central cylinder, which contained the cryogenic sleep chambers. Stromos was equipped with defensive technologies that can render life forms unconscious for an undetermined amount of time. The ship along with its sister ships was created to preserve remnants of the Talthun society, because their planet Talthus was threatened by a solar flare that would certainly destroy them. Its hull is capable of withstanding a crash landing, but it took an uncertain but apparently extreme degree of damage in the process. (SG1: "Lifeboat")
In order to protect the crew during the voyage, the ship is equipped with several hundred Stasis pods, at least enough to accommodate the entire crew and passengers, which is not surprising considering that it was build for its purpose specifically. (SG1: "Lifeboat")
Stromos uses a form of propulsion that bypasses the presence of chemical rockets or rocket motors of any kind, and achieve high accelerations. The motors can be capable of traveling at the speed of light. Stromos engines consists of nine small engines and three larger engines. (SG1: "Lifeboat")
Stromos is equipped with defensive technology that can render life forms unconscious for an unknown amount of time. The length of the effect is much shorter for a Jaffa than an ordinary human. (SG1: "Lifeboat") It is not known whether or not Stromos has any sort of defensive shield system.
Stromos is a ship built by Talthuns centuries ago to save a few selected Talthun from destruction. Stromos was going to Ardena, but never arrived, and the ship crashed on P2A-347. Stromos automatically revived Officer Pharrin to solve the problem of lack of power. Since the Stasis pods began to fail, Pharrin was forced to start transferring the minds of the passengers into his own mind. Pharrin sent a distress signal on the hope that those other ships would hear it. Pharrin waited 12 years for help from the other ships. But instead, SG-1 arrived with a Naquadah generator to power the ship, and again bring the crew to search for a new home world by Stargate. What happened to Stromos is unknown, it is likely to remain at P2A-347. (SG1: "Lifeboat")
Behind the scenesEdit
- Stromos might be a reference to the USCSS Nostromo from Alien. Both were equipped with stasis pods for traveling long distances as well.

Some issues of The DVD Collection magazine are known to contain errors with respect to the dimensions they provide for spaceships. Dimensions for the same class of ship may vary between issues. The dimensions given in an issue may contradict how the ship visually appears on screen. The dimensions of two ships which appear similarly sized on screen may be given different measurements in The DVD Collection magazines. However, as the DVD Collection Magazines are officially licensed by MGM (and thus considered canon) Stargate Wiki includes them, while noting the apparent discrepancies in instances where they occur. See policy and List of spaceships by size for more information.
