Stromos is one of the three ships built by Talthuns as a last hope to preserve their civilization, which was facing the destruction of a dark star.

Overview

Stromos is an automated sleeper ship, with four long, cylindrical chamber at its rear, around a thicker central cylinder, which contained the cryogenic sleep chambers. Stromos was equipped with defensive technologies that can render life forms unconscious for an undetermined amount of time. The ship along with its sister ships was created to preserve remnants of the Talthun society, because their planet Talthus was threatened by a solar flare that would certainly destroy them. Its hull is capable of withstanding a crash landing, but it took indetermined but apparently extreme damage in the process. (SG1: "Lifeboat")

Locations

There are four long cylindrical chamber with cryogenic sleep chambers. The Stromos bridge was destroyed when it crashed into the mountain. (SG1: "Lifeboat")

Technology

Stromos has an unknown amount of advanced technology, ranging from stasis pods to defensive technology. (SG1: "Lifeboat")

Stasis pods

In order to protect the crew during the voyage, the ship is equipped with several hundred Stasis pods, at least enough to accommodate the entire crew and passenger, which is not surprising considering that it was build for its purpose specifically. (SG1: "Lifeboat")

Power generator

Little is known about the details of such a power center. A Naquadah generator had enough power to revive all that remaining passengers and crew from stasis. (SG1: "Lifeboat")

Engines

Stromos uses a form of propulsion that bypasses the presence of chemical rockets or rocket motors of any kind, and achieve high accelerations. The motors can be capable of traveling at the speed of light. Stromos engines consists of nine small engines and three larger engines. (SG1: "Lifeboat")

Defense

Stromos defensive systems.

Stromos is equipped with defensive technology that can render life forms unconscious for an unknown amount of time. The length of the effect is much shorter for a Jaffa than an ordinary human. (SG1: "Lifeboat")

It is not known whether or not Stromos has any sort of defensive shield system.

History

Stromos is a ship built by Talthuns centuries ago to save a few selected Talthun from destruction. Stromos was going to Ardena, but never arrived, and the ship crashed on P2A-347. Stromos automatically revived Officer Pharrin to solve the problem of lack of power. Since the Stasis pods began to fail, Pharrin was forced to start transferring the minds of the passengers into his own mind. Pharrin sent a distress signal on the hope that those other ships would hear it. Pharrin waited 12 years for help from the other ships. But instead, SG-1 arrived with a Naquadah generator to power the ship, and again bring the crew to search for a new home world by Stargate. What happened to Stromos is unknown, it is likely to remain at P2A-347. (SG1: "Lifeboat")
