The carp in the pond at the end is *not* a goof.
It's a deliberate reframing of a shot that they've used before (without any fish), to show that the timeline has changed.

Acshen's Reason for Sterility[]
After Ambassador Faxon was told that the Aschen had sterilized 9/10th of Earth's population his response was that it was only suppose to be 1/3rd of the population. The Aschen gave the excuse that the current rate of population growth was unsustainable, but with the discloser of the Stargate and the ability to travel/settle other worlds the population growth of one or many worlds could be sustained. Yes we all know that the Aschen wanted another world for farming and a diminished population on Earth would give them enough farms for the job.
