Ghost in the Machine pictures

If anyone has any screencaps for this episode, can you add a picture of the electric discharge created by the digital ascended Weir and place it into the Digital Ascension section? Also, there was a scene where Weir was surrounded by Asurans who sat in a circle in meditation, if a picture of that can be added into the Quest for Ascension section then I think it will make it look more complete. Just a note to anyone for the future. —Darth Batrus 15:46, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I can do that.—Anubis 10545 18:49, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Well I couldn't find the electrical discharge one but I did find the meditation one.—Anubis 10545 19:01, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Cool thanks for that :) —Darth Batrus 16:30, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Organic Asurans?

From This Mortal Coil and Ghost in the Machine we have seen that the Asurans are quite capable of becoming organic based beings. So should this be added into the Asuran article or be given its own page? Do the DVD magazines or other source give them a name? —Darth Batrus 11:56, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Those were human copies of the team made, not real Asurans. Also the other Asurans were just changing their appearence in that episode to look human.
Yes I know that but they had nanites in the blood which rapidly healed their bodies from any cuts and bruises. Plus, we already have an article on Human-form Wraith so it might warrant the creation of Organic Asurans. —Darth Batrus 15:20, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Darth Batrus, that we should create a page on Organic Asurans. I kept meaning to create articles on the clone copies of the Atlantis team anyway, through I never got round to doing them, though I'm gonna have to soon. -- Matthew R Dunn 15:48, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

status

they shouldn't be listed as extinct because the ones floating inert in space could still be reactivated theoretically —ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 06:14, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

wraith mercy

why didnt the wraith just exterminate them after they deactivated the attack code which would presumably stop them from fighting back —ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 07:32, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

The Asurans wouldn't go out of their way to attack the Wraith with the attack code deactivated, but they would very likely "defend" themselves against any attack. An "attack" code likely wouldn't cover "defensive" measures... At least that assumption seems to make the most sense. —Anubis 10545 (talk) (Contribs) 07:38, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

name

when are they actually referred to as "asurans" in the show? they always just call them replicators. —ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 08:47, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

  • First episode they appear in I think. I think Niam refers to them as that. Their not refered to as Replicators until after the whole Mind Probe thing.--WarGrowlmon18 (talk) (Contribs) 13:08, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Replicators vs. Asurans?

Which one is more powerful? If the two were to go into an all out war, who would win? Based on the series, it looks like they are evenly matched. General Heed (talk) (Contribs) 04:14, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

asurans. ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 05:15, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
Replicators do have a few advantages, first off, they replicate a lot faster, in addition to ancient technology, they also have access to virtually all asgard knowledge and technology, in addition to any other races they have encountered since they have been met in a unnamed galaxy that SG-1 and Apophis were thrown into. Replicators do not however, fight in the same manner, they fight for different reasons, merely to reproduce, unless a human form is in control, in which case, in addition to fighting for resources, they fight for whatever the motivation of the human form is, and in their tactics, instead of the standard, rush for resource tactic of the bug form. Asurans lack any non-ancient knowledge base, and lack as coordinated a will of the others with a human form in control, they reproduce much slower, and stick to a single world, instead of spreading out, they lack numbers. Asurans do however, have specialized weapons, city ships. They do lack full control of their own programming, in general, but can form into a variety of things. Replicators, in the human form, can form into anything, and with the right resources, could easily build a massive human form population. But... if you get down to it, if the replicators land on Asuran world, and bug forms try to absorb the resources from asurans, the nanites arent easily broken down into resources, and the bug form loses. As for space battles, I'll side with Replicators, if they have a human form in control, but in ground fights, nanites win.74.129.66.59 05:50, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
well, a)asurans are all in human form, so they collectively would have more intellect and tactical and strategic proficiency, as opposed to replicators who are mindless and always rely on numbers unless lead by a human-form, b)asuran warships, though probably less capable then the original ancient ones, still have drones which can easily destroy replicator ships, c)while replicators primarily depend on assimilating other societies assets, the asurans were able to build a large fleet in a fairly short time, and d)asurans can digitally ascend to infest and control replicators.
we don't know how asuran nanites and replicator blocks would interact, but i think the nanites would win simply because they have been shown to have more capabilities and versatility. they could possibly try the trick that the atlantis team used in bamsr, program nanites to suck in replicator blocks causing them to be destroyed. ASDF1239 DISCUSSION 06:44, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
Well, the Replicators can also build ships pretty quickly, but they seem to prefer the ships of advanced civilizations. However, for the human-form replicators and asurans, I can't really tell the physical differences. Both of them can probe a human's mind in the exact same way. Both have the same vulnerabilities. I think it's a matter of psychological differences that determine which is more powerful. And how do we know that ancient drones are effective against replicators? They've never actually been used against the replicators so far. As far as we know, Replicators are immune to energy weapons except for the replicator disrupter. Only projectile weapons are effective against them except for the human forms.I'm not sure if Asurans' digital ascension can infest replicators. I think the replicators could be able to resist them. As we've seen, Replicators can also hack into virtually any system. In fact, what's stopping the human form replicators from digitally ascending? They're both based on the same technology. A human form could probably probe an asuran's mind and download the information to digitally ascend. Or, they could just use that method to break apart their nanites. I'm convinced that replicators and asurans are the same. I think replicators might have been an early version of the asurans. That would explain why the ancients had a method to defeat the replicators in their repositories. General Heed (talk) (Contribs) 03:43, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

Replicator-Asuran differences

Should a section about the difference between Asurans and the Replicators be added? It's notable, but not so obvious, and deserves some mention.Thomsons Gazelle (talk) (Contribs) 22:47, December 3, 2012 (UTC)
