Is this really a goof?[]
- When discussing Dr. Daniel Jackson's condition, Dr. Janet Fraiser states that Schizophrenia is genetic and that "there is no history of it in Daniel's family." But later on in the Season 3 episode "Crystal Skull" we learn Daniel's grandfather, Dr. Nicholas Ballard, had been a resident of a psychiatric institution since at least 1995.
I'd have to rewatch Crystal Skull, but I don't think It was ever stated that Daniel's grandfather was Schizophrenic (or that he even suspected to be). There are many reasons to be institutionalized besides Schizophrenia. Nick had himself committed because he had a mental breakdown after his experience with the crystal skull (which turned out to be real).
