Tarturus, designated P3W-924 by the Tau'ri, is a planet controlled by Anubis in the Milky Way galaxy. The base there was where Anubis and Thoth created the Kull Warriors. Tartarus is defended by a powerful sensor array, preventing anyone from arriving by ship unnoticed. A Stargate lies within the complex and is surrounded by a forcefield. The planet itself has many low-lying chasms, perfect for hiding a scout ship until time to rescue infiltrators. (SG1: "Evolution, Part 2")
