"It's a perfect analogy, Burns as Goa'uld."
"They are merely animated characters O'Neill."
Jack O'Neill and Teal'c

The Simpsons is an animated television series produced on Earth. Colonel Jack O'Neill is a fan of it, stating that the series was important to him. He often tapes episodes, but has forgotten on at least one occasion. He also quotes "d'oh", one of the frequently used quotes in the series. (SG1: "Frozen")

O'Neill compared the Goa'uld to Montgomery Burns but the rest of team didn't understand so he decided to leave his collection of Simpsons video cassettes to MSgt. Sylvester Siler. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 1")

Later, Joe Spencer agreed with O'Neill's analogy. (SG1: "Citizen Joe")

In order to see if the people digging him out of rubble were in fact from Atlantis, Lt. Colonel John Sheppard asked if they liked Duff Beer. (ATL: "Search and Rescue")

Alternate timelinesEdit

Behind the scenesEdit

  • In The Simpsons, the actor Richard Dean Anderson, who portrayed O'Neill in real life, and the Stargate franchise itself both exist. In the episode "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bangalore", Patty and Selma kidnap Anderson from a Stargate SG-1 convention. This leads to a strange "mutually fictional" situation. Presumably, in the Stargate universe, this episode either does not exist or its plot is different.
  • Voice actor Dan Castellaneta, know for portraying the voices of several characters, particularly Homer Simpson, has guest starred in the episode "Citizen Joe" as Joe Spencer.
