[edit] History

[edit] Early years

An injury during childhood left him lame and infertile, and he became an outcast among his village. When Vala was sent to the Ori home galaxy, Tomin found Vala, and believed she was a gift from the Gods. When Vala discovered that she was pregnant, she married Tomin. A Prior later healed his limp, and he was conscripted into the Ori army. Vala feared that he would change from the gentle being he already was. Tomin was told by the Prior that Vala's child was not his, but the will of the Ori. He also told Tomin that Seevis was planning to disrupt the launch of the Ori warships, so Tomin was sent to kill him. On a cruiser, Vala gave birth to Adria, the Orici. Daniel Jackson attempted to free Vala and kidnap Adria but Tomin thwarted him. Tomin attempted to kill Daniel, but Vala got infront of him and took the blast instead. Tomin was horrified at having shot his wife, but Adria was able to heal her, though Daniel and Vala were beamed out by the Odyssey. (SG1: "Crusade", "Flesh and Blood")

[edit] Commander of the Crusade

"You have proven yourself a ruthless and skillful warrior, and a fine leader."
Prior

As the invasion progressed, Tomin became a cunning and ruthless warrior, and a skilled leader. He eventually rose to the rank of commander. The force he lead was part of the group sent to a planet where SG-1 used Arthur's Mantle to phase the village into its parallel dimension. Vala was captured, and Tomin was tasked with educating her in the ways of Origin. However, when the Prior decided to destroy the village after the villagers agreed to accept Origin, he twisted the story of Markon. Tomin felt conflicted about it. Vala urged him to try and stop the Prior, and Tomin made an impassioned plea to the Prior, who fired the main weapon on the Ori warship. His faith shaken, Tomin ringed Vala down to the planet. Tomin was never caught for his actions (or was forgiven) until he joined SG-1. (SG1: "Line in the Sand")

[edit] End of the Crusade

"You will never forgive yourself, accept this."
Teal'c
Tomin of Ver Isca.

Tomin was seen again on Dakara while SG-1 was searching for the Ark of Truth the Ori army commanded by Tomin arrived on the planet. They fought and pinned SG-1 down by what they thought was the Ark and in a position where they could not run. Tomin asked for their surrender and told them they would be spared. SG-1 cooperated in an attempt to get the Ori to open the Ark for them. After they were surrounded a prior revealed himself. The prior eventually told Tomin to kill SG-1 but he hesitated. SG-1 talked to him in an attempt to convince him not to do but before he could do anything the prior grabbed him and yelled for him to kill them. It was at this point Mitchell knocked out and grabbed the nearby Ori Soldier's staff and shot the prior. He was killed as the SG-1 had a Anti-prior device set up nearby.

It was at this point it was revealed to Tomin that the Prior's were not invincible as he had previously thought. He then surrendered himself to SG-1 and returned to Earth with them. On Earth, Daniel Jackson and Vala explained to him about the Ori and the Ark. When Daniel told Tomin his vision of where the Ark, Tomin told him about Ortus Mallum, a place much like Daniel described. A mission was authorized to go through the Supergate to the Ori home galaxy to find Ortus Mallum and along with it the Ark. Before they left, Tomin was interrogated by James Marrick. After this SG-1, Tomin, and Marrick left aboard the Odyssey to the Supergate. While travelling to the Supergate, Tomin talked with Teal'c about their past sins, Teal'c informing Tomin that, while the two of them could never forgive themselves for the crimes they had committed while they served the Goa'uld and the Ori respectively, even if others said they forgave them, it was important to simply accept that they could not find personal retribution, but try and help others through their own efforts nevertheless. Tomin expressed great regret for his actions which he admitted he knew were wrong, but he had ignored that fact.

Having arrived in the Ori galaxy, Tomin put SG-1 in contact with members of the Anti-Ori underground, who directed them to Ortus Mallum, where a mountain had errupted and supposedly buried the place where evil lay. Although he, Teal'c, Daniel and Vala were able to discover the Ark, Tomin and the others were subsequently captured by the Ori's followers, Tomin being subsequently tortured by the Priors, and the group only escaping thanks to Teal'c (who had been left for dead) breaking into Celestis and freeing them, subsequently exposing the Doci to the Ark. With the mission concluded, Tomin decided to return to his home galaxy, noting that it was the teachings of Origin that gave him strength while he was being tortured by the Priors. Although Vala said that she could not go with him, she told him not to give up on Origin, admitting that that fundamental message was powerful even if the original intentions behind it had been wrong. He and Vala both express regret for all of their past actions and both agree that they will spend the rest of their lives trying to make up for them. It is indicated that he will become the new leader of the Ori forces. (Stargate: The Ark of Truth)
