World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is a game, presumably a computer role-playing game, played by Dr. Bill Lee. It has an expansion pack and allows raising characters to at least level 75. One of the character classes is mage, and available professions include engineering and dueling. Elizabeth Weir once pretended to be a be a fan of the game as well to distract Lee from his computer. (SGA: "The Return, Part 1")

One of the locations in the game was Elwynn Forest, to which Dr. Lee compared the first Pegasus galaxy planet he and Samantha Carter arrived on. (SGA: "Lifeline")

Behind the scenes

World of Warcraft is a real game; however, as of the time "The Return" supposedly took place, characters were limited to level 70 (the level cap was later raised to 80 in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion), making it impossible for Dr. Lee to have a level 75 character — unless World of Warcraft of the Stargate universe is different from the one in the real world, which is likely so because there are references to Stargate in the game.

• In the Champions' Hall, there are NPCs named Captain O'Neal, Lieutenant Karter, Lieutenant Jackspring, Sergeant Major Clate, Guard Quine and Guard Hammon — references to Jonathan J. O'Neill, Samantha Carter, Daniel Jackson, Teal'c, Jonas Quinn, and George S. Hammond respectively.
• The city of Dalaran is currently surrounded by an impenetrable magical dome, and in the second expansion Wrath of the Lich King, will fly to the frozen continent of Northrend, possibly referencing Atlantis — a flying city with a dome-like shield that was once located in Antarctica.
