A Wraith scout ship is a relatively small vessel used by the Wraith.

Overview[]

Larger than the Wraith Dart and Puddle Jumper, the vessel functions in a role similar to a Goa'uld tel'tak, serving as a scout, shuttle, and cargo vessel. The vessel appears to be hyperspace capable, but it is unknown what sort of range it has. It is unknown if it requires a Wraith to pilot the vessel, much as how the Wraith Hive ships require a Wraith to interact with the neural interface.

History[]

It was used to transport a Wraith Queen to Atlantis during the brief alliance between Atlantis and a hive ship and later used by Michael Kenmore and John Sheppard, Ronon and McKay to the Daedalus during the Battle of the Void. (SGA: "Aurora", "Allies", "No Man's Land")

This class of ship was seen transporting Todd and Teyla Emmagan to the Primary's hive ship in 2008. (SGA: "The Queen")

Some time later, a scout ship shuttled Todd's delegation aboard the Daedalus, landing in an F-302 fighter-interceptor hangar bay. When Todd locked the human vessel in a collision course in an attempt to destroy the Attero device during the Battle of M6H-987, he and the rest of the Wraith escaped in the scout ship. (SGA: "First Contact", "The Lost Tribe")

Notes[]

  • The Scout ship was not seen in the episode "Aurora", however, concept art at the MGM website shows a Wraith bat-winged shaped vessel which was labeled as the scout ship.
  • It looks similar to the Wraith cruiser, except smaller.
  • The special features photo gallery on Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Second Season disk 5 shows concept art for various unused designs for this ship, refereed to as a "Wraith Royal Shuttle" and "Wraith Royal Transport".
  • A Wraith scout ship is the main enemy of the novel Stargate Atlantis: Entanglement. However, there it possesses an energy shield and appears to be much larger in size with at least two different decks and at one point being described as about half the size of the Daedalus. In comparison, the scout ship in the show is much smaller, closer to a Puddle Jumper in size than a full space ship to the point that it can easily land in the Daedalus 302 bay with plenty of room to spare.
