The Wraith survivor was a Wraith whose supply ship was damaged during the siege of Atlantis. Crashing on a desolate planet in the Lantean system, the survivor was able to survive the next ten thousand years by alternating between hibernating and feeding off captive Humans and his fellow Wraith crew members.
When John Sheppard led a team to do recon on the Ancient Defense Satelite that had shot down his ship, the survivor was able to kill Abrams, and partially fed off Brendan Gaul, who told him about the gateship.
Since he was wearing a metallic armor, and having recently fed, he was able to survive twenty shots by Sheppard's P90, as well as a Wraith grenade. The Wraith was finally killed when a gateship piloted by a rescue team fired a drone weapon at him. (ATL: "The Defiant One")
